Mip TV Picks 2008: Twister Sisters

Peggy Willenberg and Melanie Metz are partners in the Twister Sisters Tornado Tour Company in Minneapolis. Thanks to their extensive first-hand experience, they’re both experts in those violent and dangerous storms that thunder through the area between the Rockies and the Appalachian Mountains called Tornado Alley.

Every May, these two adventurers head out on a pilgrimage across the Great Plains in search of the biggest and fiercest tornadoes. And because they obviously have a death wish, producers from Original Productions go with them.

The realscreen judges are suckers for that genre so delicately dubbed ‘weather porn,’ and so are most viewers. There’s something about the overwhelming strength of the forces of nature that keep us coming back, especially when the series in which they are featured has great characters and catchy story arcs.
