Starting this month, Chicago-based Towers Productions Inc (When Weather Changed History, American Justice, Animal Witness) is restructuring the company to create three new operating companies which focus on TV production, post-production and equipment rentals, respectively. The three new companies are all wholly owned subsidiaries of Towers Holdings, Inc, which is headed up by CEO William Fisher. continue

In preparation for 2009's Black History Month in February, Brainstorm Media, Time Life, TV One and MarVista Entertainment have teamed up to produce a documentary on the civil rights movement. Unlike other docs on the same subject, the focus of Let Freedom Sing will be how music helped to inspire the movement. continue
Ernie Webb recalls watching western movies when he was a child growing up in James Bay. "We always cheered for the cowboys," says Webb, who is an aboriginal, "even when they were killing Indians." Those experiences were formative for Webb, who has produced a range of film and TV projects, some of which deal with aboriginal themes. He says many native people end up learning all sorts of erroneous things about their own culture via Hollywood's twisted representations. continue
Realscreen Summit is currently accepting submissions for So You Think You Can Pitch, this year's live pitch competition at the Realscreen Summit. Based on a popular game show format and hosted by comedian and game show host Chris Wylde, this year's session will offer five brave producers the chance to pitch their project live to a panel of industry judges. The application deadline is Friday, January 9, 2009. continue
