Abbe Raven has been appointed executive VP and general manager of A&E, taking over for Dan Davids, who will in turn fill Raven's former position as executive VP and general manager of the History Channel.

The BBC has appointed Dame Ruth Deech and Angela Sarkis to its board of governors for a four-year term. The BBC has also extended the term of member Ranjit Sondhi as governor for the English regions.

Stuart Prebble, former chief executive of ITV Digital, is slated to head the London, U.K. office of Liberty Bell, an indie prodco headed by Andrea Wonfor, a former colleague at Granada, reports The Guardian .

Discovery Communications has hired Joseph Abruzzese as president of advertising sales for all of its domestic channels. Abruzzese will be ending a 22-year relationship with CBS Television to join DCI.

Victoria Baldock has been promoted to the newly created position of head of sales, Sydney, for the Southern Star Sales, the distribution arm of Australian film and TV prodco Southern Star.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced the promotion of three people to vice chairman of the company. They are Amy Pascal (chairman of Columbia Pictures) Jeff Blake (president, worldwide marketing and distribution of Columbia TriStar) and Yair Landau (president, Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment). All three will retain their current responsibilities and titles in addition to their new roles as vice chairmen.
