This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Montreal World Film Festival, which kicks off today and runs until September 3. Over 300 films from around the world will screen within the festival's programs, which include the Official Competition World Greats, World Cinema: Reflections of Our Time, Cinema of Tomorrow: New Trends, Latin American Cinema, Focus on German Cinema, Panorama Canada, Films for Television, Tributes, and the Film & Video Student Film Festival. Unlike the neighboring Toronto International Film Festival, the Montreal fest does not distinguish documentaries with a devoted program.
