Broadcasters jump on Jackson docs

by: Jun 29, 2009

Since Michael Jackson's death on Thursday, most news and music channels have featured ongoing coverage, mainly devoted to interviews with stars talking about their thoughts and memories of the mega-star. But, into this week, channels in the US and the UK will be running specials and quick turnaround docs about M.J.

On Thursday night Fox announced that it would preempt its regular dramatic programming tonight (Monday) to repeat the American Idol Michael Jackson special where the top 13 from last season performed songs from his catalog.

In the UK, Sky News produced two docs on Jacksons death for Sky1 and Channel Five that aired on Friday.

NBC announced that it will run an hour-long version of Living with Michael Jackson, the interview/documentary by Martin Bashir that originally aired in 2003 on ABC in the States. Jackson accused Bashir, at the time, of casting him in a disparaging light.

Meanwhile, E! Entertainment has announced a one-hour quick turnaround doc about Jackson that will air this Wednesday.
