DocsBarcelona
This years' DocsBarcelona, a pitching forum for documentary filmmakers and producers, is complemented by the first-ever International Documentary Film Festival. The event plans to screen a small selection of documentaries, which include never-before-seen releases and children's docs. The forum's main goal, however, is still to get projects commissioned. The pitching workshops are on January 30 and 31, and the festival takes place February 1 to 4 in Barcelona and Terrassa. Pitching sessions and meetings will be held February 1 and 2.

Fylmz Festival
For a new indie venue, the Fylmz Festival is offering an impressive reward for its Best Feature Film selection: US$100,000 and a distribution deal. Taking place in Nashville, Tennessee from February 8 to 10, the first annual fest is open to non-fiction and fiction filmmakers alike from around the globe. Founded in 2004 by A.W. Vidmer, a director and producer who understands the struggle of fellow indie filmmakers, Fylmz also has a strong online following worth checking out.
