Mammoth distrib merger gives Burns' projects wider footprint
by: Nov 1, 2006 Print

The recent merger of Boston's WGBH International and CS Associates has created a combined group representing more than 400 hours from US producers under the WGBH International banner. As part of the deal, projects from Ken Burns - such as the new 90-minute version of Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson - are now being distributed by WGBH International. Charles Schuerhoff, president of CS Associates, notes that "WGBH International has always been very active and effective in securing pre-sales - a skill that I expect will benefit Ken's two new series: The War and America's Best Idea." Schuerhoff, who has taken the role of director of acquisitions and sales at WGBH International, will be acquiring and financing programming for multi-platform use.
