SXSW
SXSW has been rocking the film festival circuit since the mid '90s, but this year it's paying greater attention to the industry's non-fiction assets with the launch of Doc Locally, Think Globally. How broadband created a documentary revolution is just one of the topics to be debated on this day of panels about docs and the international tv market. Cinetic's John Sloss, Palm Pictures founder Chris Blackwell and Eric Besner of Netflix are also confirmed to debate DVDs vs. Theatrical. Plus, there's good BBQ in Austin.

Thessaloniki Doc Film Fest
Last year this eight-year-old event expanded from seven to 10 days, leaving more time to not only discover its films but debate the issues they raise. Attracting more than 16,000 submissions, this ambitious fest has a global lineup that focuses on social and cultural developments. Seminars, a pitch forum, and the International Doc Market run concurrently, in case you need still more reasons to write off a trip to Greece.

AIDC
By emphasizing debate, discussion and dealmaking, the AIDC has become a must-attend event. This year's gathering features Michael Donovan, producer of Bowling for Columbine, who will conduct a master class on handling a feature that exceeds expectations. The panel Doing Business with Asia, reminds delegates of the burgeoning market nearby.
